There is an almost inexhaustible supply of foosball misconceptions, and I have encountered countless during my years of foosball, mainly among amateurs<\/b>. However, I would not claim that there are no cases in competitive conditions that do not give cause for head scratching. I have selected a selection of these, in the hope that they will help to clarify the situation for sports fans.<\/p>

I would add that everywhere there are \"local rules\" that should be followed. Also is subject to public agreement<\/b>, especially at amateur level, to what rules you follow<\/b> - a typical question before a match: start or fold?<\/b> - , where the enjoyment of the game is the most important aspect. Simply discuss what rules you consider to be authoritative and apply them consistently throughout the match.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Foosball misconceptions: do not spin<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

Most amateur foosball players know that spinning is forbidden.<\/b> What they do not know is that\u00a02022 ITSF rulebook<\/a>\u00a0- which summarises the standardised rules of foosball - exactly what it says: \"It is illegal to transition the ball by rotating the rod more than 360\u00b0 either before or after making contact with the ball.\" -<\/em> GBR-2022\u00a0ITSF Standard Matchplay Rules, version 1.1<\/a>, page 3<\/p>

The same from point 15 of the Hungarian translation:\"Spinning is when a dummy rotates more than 360\u00b0 before or after the ball is shot. For the purpose of calculating 360\u00b0, the movement before and after the ball is thrown does not add up.\"<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

That is, it is forbidden to spin the ball more than 360 degrees, but if the dummy touches the ball during the game, this process is interrupted. <\/b>This is why you can, among other things shoot a snake,<\/b> or a left-footed goal from midfield.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Foosball misconceptions: it's not worth scoring from the centre<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I've heard this many times in pubs, and it's one of the biggest bullshit<\/b>, no rule says so. This misconception probably stems from the fact that in competitive conditions, the ball must be brought into play with a mid-start - i.e. you reach into the table and place the ball on the pieces next to the starting line - where at least two touches must be made with the midfield pieces, and only then - i.e. on the third touch - can the ball be kicked.\u00a0This is only true if the ball needs to be put into play. <\/span>Once it is in play, it is possible to shoot at the goal from a standing position at any time,<\/b><\/span> will result in a valid goal.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Attention pub players! Since in pubs you cannot reach into the table in most cases, you have to throw the ball in. In this case, fair play requires you to wait until the ball reaches the opposite wall, as the player throwing the ball in must grip the bar with the hand he threw the ball with! <\/b>One of the biggest idiocies is to kick the ball away after a throw-in without thinking. This will result in on the one hand you make the opponent angry,<\/b> on the other hand, the next time you are on the side of the hatch, they will do the same to you.<\/b><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Foosball misconceptions: all shots are snake shots fired from a pin<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

If you want to get burned somewhere with your incompetence, then say something like \"shooting snakes is easy, everyone can do it!\" on the pinshot;<\/b>\u00a0The snake is not worth it!\" and so on. From this, anyone with a clue about foosball will deduce that you don't have a clue about the most basic elements of the game. The fact that the ball is held in a pin position<\/b> - i.e., holding the ball in front of the dummy, pushes it under the dummy's feet - not sure if he's shooting snake yet.<\/b> Firstly, look at the hand position - the pint is shot from the wrist or palm, the snake is shot with the forearm - and if for some reason you can't see it, then watch the movement. If they pull away and step behind and then shoot, it's a pin; if they rotate the line, it's a snake shot.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

But it's best to keep quiet, because learning to do a pinshot at a high level is one of the most complicated and time-consuming techniques, and it takes a head. Instead, try to learn how your opponent did it<\/b>, or ask him,<\/b> where and how you can learn. Have you ever nagged a runner about why they are running in running shoes and not on the streets or barefoot?<\/b> And for the swimmers to put on the girdle before they jump in the pool? I suppose it's not strange to anyone that tennis players, badminton players or squash players put grip tape on their rackets<\/b> - also known as a grip, which is the same tape used by foosball players - tekernek<\/b>. It's perfectly normal for someone to wrap a pair of grips around the handle of the foosball table in a pub, because their hands might be dry or they might be sweating and slipping. Moreover, not all manufacturers make their handles from the right materials - Italian tables, for example, can have some pretty shoddy ones - so it's perfectly legitimate for someone to wind up their grip.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In addition, at Bonzini competitions, everyone can take their own handle and change it<\/b>, that the \"palleted\" audience of the pub would be pissed off if someone did this. Not to mention, if you've bumped your opponent and he doesn't use a grip because of it, or you're in the mood for a shot that he can hit without it, and you still lose, who's going to be humiliated? You, so it's better to be quiet.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I have also heard many times that how big the poppy was that the ball bounced off the wall.<\/b> Some tables are relatively easy to shoot wall shots on, such as the Leonhart, P4P, Tornado and Rosengart. Even on ramp tables, it is not impossible. The trained eye can, of course, see when a shot is accidental and when it is deliberate, but it can tell, to say that you can only shoot this with luck is a gross exaggeration<\/b>. In fact, in P4P tournaments it is commonplace, and part of the repertoire - one of the most frequently used techniques - the bank shot.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

If it bounces, it's not a goal<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t

Colloquially called a \"Tesco\" or \"test goal\", the rebound is of no consequence whether the ball bounces out of the goal or not.<\/p>

The official ITSF rulebook clearly declares the concept of a goal in point 12: \"<\/em>A ball that crosses the goal line counts as a goal if it was scored legally. A goal is also scored if the ball rebounds from the goal into the playing area or leaves the playing area.\"<\/em><\/p>

This means that the ball does not even have to reach the back wall<\/strong>, you just have to cross the goal line. In pubs, for practical reasons, the game continues - but the goal must be scored - and you can actually score an extra goal, as you get one more ball for one more coin. There is one exception, the two-ball<\/strong> - 2ball -, which is a fun category, you have to play with two balls, and it was deliberately included in the rules that the rebound goal is disallowed.<\/strong><\/p>
